Groups & plans
primerouter offers differentiated pricing through groups.
What groups do
Each user belongs to one group. Groups determine:
- Multiplier: actual charge = baseline × model multiplier × group multiplier
- Visible models: which models you can use
- Rate limits: per-minute RPM / TPM
Default groups
| Group | Who's in | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| default | All self-registered users | 1.0x |
| internal | Team / company accounts | 0.0x (free) |
| vip-customer | High-volume customers | 0.8x |
| partner | Partners / resellers | 0.7x |
Actual group list and multipliers depend on per-site admin configuration — they may differ across sites and over time. Check Console → Personal to see which group you are currently in.
Which group am I in?
Console → Personal shows "Current group" at the top.
How to enter a better group?
Various paths:
- Hit a cumulative / monthly spend threshold: auto-promote (if site-enabled)
- Contact sales / support: high-volume users negotiate directly
- Sign up via specific channel: certain referral codes auto-place into specific groups
- Admin manual adjustment: e.g. support compensation, post-partnership negotiation
Subscription vs. group
| Subscription | Group multiplier | |
|---|---|---|
| Affects | Your "subscription balance" pool | The multiplier on each charge |
| Source | User-initiated subscription (Stripe) | Inherent group property |
| Renewal | Auto-renew | Stays unless group changes |
| Best for | Steady usage | Long-term / bulk users |
Subscription and group are not mutually exclusive — you can be in default group and have a subscription: charges use the default multiplier; subscription balance is consumed first, then pay-as-you-go.
per-model multiplier
Some groups have a separate multiplier for specific models. E.g.:
- partner group default multiplier 0.7x
- but glm-4-plus has a separate 0.85x (negotiated)
- calling glm-4-plus actually uses 0.85x, not 0.7x
When this happens, the per-model effective price is shown directly in your Available models list.
Visible models
Some models may not be available to certain groups:
- New models in beta (only
internal) - Partner-only models (only
partner) - Retired-but-preserved models (only specific
legacygroups)
Invisible models don't appear in Models. Direct API call returns 403.
FAQ
Q: Can I choose my group? A: Not self-service — groups are determined by account attributes. If you qualify for vip / partner, contact sales.
Q: After a group change, what price does an in-flight request use? A: Streaming uses the start-time price; non-streaming uses the completion-time price.
